This is my senior capstone project. I delved into exploring the intersection of urban design, architecture, and product design. This restroom was designed for the Midtown Greenway, a 5.5 mile bike and pedestrian corridor south of Minneapolis.
This project explored designing for a specific site: the Midtown Greenway. The Greenway has over a million users each year who make their way along the below grade trail for commuting, leisure, or training. A key aspect I wanted to focus on was learning how to design not just for users, but also for a space. I began by mapping the site in QGIS and llustrator.

The process involved ideating on and developing floor plans and elevations of the site to design for effective movement through, and use of the restroom.

In order to address the top 2 complaints from survey respondents I designed additional lighting and wayfinding features for the Greenway. My lighting solutions aim to illuminate the Greenway while looking out to keep our skies dark with the angled roofs that direct light down at the path. The wayfinding visualizes proximity to key amenities. The wayfinding was designed to be read similarly to systems the public is likely already familiar with such as public transit graphics.
